- Providing leadership and guidance within the quality team and supporting the quality standards required within the wider business. Working within our quality department, supporting, directing and controlling all the quality control activities on our Moat Farm site.
Job Description
- Key responsibilities:
- Delivered through a regular presence on the floor of the facility and through a process of regular communication with the QC team.
- Covering all aspects of the QC process from fruit arrival to dispatch.
- Ensure strict conformance to all Health & Safety procedures. Actively review the standard operating procedures, suggesting and recommending improvements.
- Working alongside our quality team, guiding, instructing and leading them in the delivery of quality standards across all QC functions making decisions where necessary to achieve customer service levels and standards.
- Train, motivate and develop the team to ensure they have the knowledge, skills and attitude to achieve the company quality and compliance standards while ensuring that the individual’s potential capabilities are realised.
- Support the production team with training of procedures, compliance and quality standards.
- Ensure compliance to all required standards.
- Auditing of compliance and recording/reporting of shortfalls and failures to the procedures and standards.
- Ensure all personnel and processes are always managed positively and within the requirements of H&S legislation.
- Work closely with the management team (Technical/Planning/Distribution/Maintenance), to ensure that the customer service levels are met.
- Participate as a member of the Quality Team providing input on Process improvements as required to make an effective contribution to the overall running of the business.
Communication
- To communicate with all members within technical and quality control teams.
- To assist Production Line Leaders and operatives with training and discuss quality and compliance related issues.
- To discuss quality and compliance issues as well as quality control activities with the Operations, Packhouse and Technical Manager daily.
- To discuss requirement for maintenance and repairs with engineering.
- To communicate with external contacts: Growers, surveyors, and suppliers as and when required.
Working Hours, Salary, and Benefits
- Full training will be given in business procedures and operating protocols.
- Hours: Tuesday to Saturday 08:00 – 17:00, 3 breaks unpaid totalling 60 minutes a day, 8 working hours.
- Adrian Scripps Ltd currently runs a 6-day packing operation, from Monday to Saturday and dispatching on Sunday. This role will work on a flexible shift pattern, covering 5 out of 7 days, across all operational running hours. You may be required to work outside these hours to meet the demand of the business.
- Holiday allowance: 31 paid days per annum including bank holidays.
- Salary from £28,000 to £32,000 dependant on experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Good understanding of the food safety compliance and standards ideally gained within fresh produce.
- Experience with leading, motivating and developing a team.
- Demonstrable knowledge, experience and skills within a quality control environment.
- Attention to detail.
- Ideally, prior experience within a quality-related function in fresh produce.
